Yes, good article in Guitar Player. He mentions Rickenbacker a bit as well.

Great news! There's a lot of good Rick sounds on those CCR recordings.

Thank You RicandVox for that info.
C.C.R. was my musical "First Love", and, they got me into wanting to play an instrument.

They will always hold a special place within my heart--(I know...how lame was that???)

What about Suzi Q.

Don't know if anyone has seen this :

where he even talks about his old Ric (and more about his amplifier).

Seems he still plays on Rickenbacker.

Fogerty is such a non-technical, but really good guitarist. What a natural talent.

Thanks RicandVox for the heads up.

-I saw the original Creedence perform live many times at the old Swing Auditorium at the National Orange Show grounds in San Bernardino during the summers of 1969 and 1970.

And WOW! They gave (hands down) the very best live shows and best sound quality of any professional band out there in those days.

I saw CCR on their first UK tour at the Albert Hall, London in 1970. John Fogerty came on with his Rickenbacker and stormed into "Born On The Bayou". What a sound and what a voice! But he also played his black Les Paul Custom for much of the set. The rows of black padded Kustom amps also looked very cool. I had a seat at the front so I could hear the band really well. Tom was playing a white Guild semi. As to my favourite Fogerty Rickenbacker tracks, I think anything on Willy And The Poor Boys is also fantastic, in particular "It Came Out Of The Sky". But "I Put A Spell On You" is up there with the best of them. Just raw emotion!

quote:What CCR song do you believe has the quintessential Fogerty Rickenbacker sound...the one that really shows off the Ric tone and coloring?

I'd have to say "Born on The Bayou".
